Weoley Hill Bowling Club, situated in the heart of Bournville Parkway, was established in 1928, and was opened by George Cadbury.
Originally a ‘Men's Only’ Club,(with later allowances for Ladies to become ‘Associates’) it changed to include Ladies as full members in 1993, and currently has a total of 95 full members - 49 Ladies and 46 Men.
The bowling season starts in April and usually lasts until October - weather permitting. During those months we have many regular organised activities including Social Bowling among members, friendly matches against other local clubs, and our Own Club competitions. We also from time to time organise professional Coaching days for our members.
We have Club Bowls Drives to raise money for the club, and once a year organise a Charity Bowls Drive to raise money for our favourite charities.
Over the years we have made many improvements to the facilities; improved kitchen and toilets; a new patio at the side of the clubhouse; new storage arrangements ; new secure fencing to improve security (and to keep the members in!), a sprinkler system - and the latest is the installation of a covered spectator stand, and a canopy over the front of the Clubhouse..
Step inside and see something more about the Club. See who’s who in the Club and what goes on during the year.
Or better still, call in to the green and have a look at us in action ~ there is almost certain to be someone around on most afternoons, and we would love to see you.
