What a good day it turned out to be!
Fine weather with plenty of sunshine, although a little cool in the fresh breeze, enabled all of us to enjoy a well organised and smoothly run competition.
Staring promptly at 12.30 pm, we were witness to some excellent competitive bowling.
The reigning Champions, Gerry Mac and Sheila Monnox got off to a flying start in the first round - as expected - but met their match in the second round, losing to Bob Burrows and Sheila Dunn.. So halfway through we knew that there would be new Champions.
Eventually, after some excellent lunch refreshments, well presented by our ladies, and the results of the Raffle and Hamper - organised and arranged by The Dunns (as always) and the Heaths (Judith & John), we started the final at 4.10pm.
John Griffin and Sylvia Burrows (who had knocked out Sheila Dunn and Bob Burrows in the semi!) faced Liz Edwards and Geoff Heath.
It turned out to be an excellent final, although the final score did not really reflect the competitiveness. Some interesting marks and some interesting tactics by both pairs produced many close ends.
However, and perhaps I might be a trifle biased, the better ‘team’ triumphed. Liz and Geoff ran out winners by 21 to 4, much to their surprise and delight.
Well done to all the participants. Well done to The Captains for their organisation, And well done to all who helped and supported.
