Eat your heart out, South Africa! We enjoyed our Cricket in the lovely (?) snow
40 odd members, partners and friends set off at 11.00 am on Monday 4th January for a pleasant and happy journey to ‘Summerset’, arriving at Cricket St Thomas Hotel at about 2.30pm.
After settling in followed by a welcoming reception and drink we soon got into the swing. A lovely Dinner followed by more drinks (all free) we eventuallly retired to our rooms, aware that it had already started snowing.
We woke up the following morning to discover that we - like the rest of the country - had had heavy snow overnight, and were greeted outside to a wonderful ‘Chrismassy’ scene. Although it did mean that we were virtually prisoners in the Hotel for the rest of the week, I think we all felt that the picturesque surrounds added to the atmosphere of the holiday spirit, and it certainly didn’t stop us all having a wonderful time.
The next three full days were filled with plenty to do and enjoy. Quizzes, Dancing, Swimming,, Short Mat bowling,, Snooker and walking outside in the snow were all intermingled with free coffee and drinks, and all these combined with usual excellent Warners food (and more drinks) followed each evening with some superb entertainment by the Warners show crew to make it a really memorable week.
Thanks go to Harris Executive Travel, and to Bob Burrows for the whole organisation of the week, and it almost goes without saying that he has already got nearly a full coach for next year!
